I called in sick on a Monday. My employer told me at 8am the following day that suddenly my shift had changed from 8-5 Tuesday to 8-noon and also had to be back at work for midnight to work until 8am, I told them I couldn’t do that and they got mad and tried to force me to work. They also changed the rest of my week around and expected me to change all previous personal plans around the newly changed schedule. When I stated I wouldn’t be able to work the Thursday (a day they told me I had off originally) and told me I would be fired if I didn’t make it. Is that legal? Am I owed Severance? I’ve never been written up and was never given warnings for my work behaviour.

If you are terminated you would be owed termination and/or severance pay. If this occurs, you should contact our office right away to schedule a consult with one of our employment lawyers so we can better assess your entitlements.
