Can I be fired if my workplace stated I needed a doctor's note to cover my absence from work and they stated it was unsupported?

Hello, and thank you for your question.

If your employer terminates your employment because you were absent from work as a result of medical issues, this could be a potential breach of the Ontario Human Rights Code. In turn, you would potentially be entitled to severance pay as well as human rights damages.
