The school states that if u dont pick up your child on time children's aid society will be contacted. What are the laws governing these situations. Thank you Ted CoolmanHi, I am a IT employee working for a company. I joined them 7 1/2 months back and was deployed in client location directly. The project assignment I was working on got over about 40 days back. So, I was told to wait for new assignments, hence I waited for new assignments and was in touch with staffing partner for new assignments. Yesterday, they scheduled a call with me with subject "Touch Base call" and told me these "We are crying for new project for you for almost a month now, we do not have any current opportunities and we do not foresee any opportunities in near future as well. So, it is decided to terminate your employment with xxxxxx effective today" I got my shock of life. I was not given any opportunity, and during my last assignment my performance was so good and even received good feedback and appreciation from client (Directors and managers, colleges). I asked them, what is the reason for my termination. They said "we do not have work for you and that's the reason we are terminating your employment. Your performance and conduct was good and it is not the reason for your termination". They also mentioned, "The company will pay you 2 weeks of salary, though we are not entitled to pay as you worked for less than a year with us". I was shell shocked and was asking them 2 weeks of advance notice so that I could have applied for jobs elsewhere and got it. She refused to give me that 2 week notice period and was very rude and said your employment gets terminated effective TODAY. Then I told them about an opportunity with in the company I was talking to the hiring manager and forwarded the supporting emails to her. After so much begging and pleasing, she said "I give you 24 hrs. Next day 10.30 A.M if you don't get confirmation of assignment from new manager, your employment will be terminated as discussed". I told her, how can a manager make decision in a day. The usual role assignment takes 1 - 2 weeks time which allows time for the client interview and selection etc. She knew all the very well, but was not even ready to have mercy on a poor employee like me and insisted that 24 hrs deadline. I spoke to the hiring manager after this dreadful call and he said, he can't give me such confirmation email without the client is ok with my profile for the role. After much discussions, hiring manager dropped an email to the staffing partner and told them that they have my profile for client interview and will inform about the go/no-go decision by Tuesday. So, I got a message from the staffing partner that they extended the timeline till Tuesday ( 19th Feb). I don't know what to do in this scenario. 1. I was not even given a single new project which is in my field of expertise to prove and get the role. 2. I was not aware of this termination policy by my employer 3. HR partner lied to me saying "They are not entitled to give advance notice of 2 weeks legally and they are paying me 2 weeks salary EVEN when they are not entitled to" 4. I am well aware that there will be demand for my skillset in a month or 2, but my company doesn't want to keep me paying until they find a new role for my skillset. 5. They said they don't foresee any opportunity in near future, I am not sure if that near future is 1 - 2 weeks time. 6. I have a non-compete agreement with my employer which prohibit me from getting employment from my client (the bank). Will this non-complete agreement breach as I am getting fired for "No fault of my own"? I have good relationship with client directors and they were willing to offer me a job and help me. Can I take employment with them ? I am seriously seeking for a good legal advise on my situation. I do not have money to spend for my legal lawsuit or fight in court. Any help on this is much appreciated. If you are a lawyer and if you feel I can sue the employer and win this case and get compensation, and ok to take you fee from the compensation I get, kindly contact me. I can't pay for legal fees from my pocket ;(My employer fired me Because i disnt showed up in training classes due to sicknessI was fired today, for taking a sick day. I have never been written up or been formally talked to about attendance. Is this a wrongful dismal and/or am I entitled to severance pay? Previous Next Page 118 of 712
