Does my boss have to give me a notice of termination? (2 weeks prior to being fired)

Thanks for your question. Unless the termination is for cause, which is highly unlikely, an employer must provide either working notice or payment in lieu of notice. The amount of notice will vary depending on several factors, including your length of service. You can use our Ontario Severance Calculator (linked at the top of the page) to find how much notice or severance pay you could be entitled to receive, and call us at the number below to speak to a lawyer about your termination entitlements. It is important that you do not sign any documents or accept any termination offer prior to speaking with a lawyer and getting legal advice.
