Can an employer cut your hours and demote you

An employer can make changes to your employment (i.e. reduce your hours and demote your position). However, if you are not agreeable to the changes and the changes are significant, it would likely amount to a construct dismissal of your employment entitling you to severance. If your employer has unilaterally imposed significant changes to the terms and conditions of your employment you should speak with one of our employment lawyers right away so we can more thoroughly review your case and navigate next steps with you.
