I got termination notice saying that there are business challenge and utilization challenge. Further I got a severance package. When I got my ROE , it says reason K. What does this mean ?

My name is David Vaughan and I am an employment lawyer with Samfiru Tumarkin. Code K is intended to be used for extraordinary purposes, but many employers use it when the termination is without cause (i.e. no fault of the employee). It should not prevent you from receiving Employment Insurance. Further, while your employer is entitled to terminate your employment, you should ensure the severance package is fair. Please visit the Severance Calculator (https://www.severancepaycalculator.com/) for an estimate of your severance entitlements and contact our firm to discuss the matter in more detail.
