Add Comment Question: I have a pair of bluntstone safety boots from June 16/2017 purchased through the company I retired from August 1/2017 that were never worn so I put them on a public auction site to sale for 170.00 reg price 219.00 with the intent to sale and repurchase a non safety boot to wear where I was now working. I had previously asked if I could return and exchanged them at the store where they were purchased but it was advised I sell them private as the company had paid for them (in our contract) so the store would have to refun them and not me. So not thinking I was doing anything wrong I put them on the auction. It came to the attention of my now employer (since Nov 2018)). Who also was where the boots were purchased from originally Marks Work Watehouse in Peterborough Ont. And on Sept 4 around 4:30 I was called in and terminated effectively for May or not ppselling the boots on the auction for less money than Marls sale them and in lieu of warning would be paid out a weeks wage on Sept 20 I explained the boots were not purchased during my employment there and when I got home sent a picture the the owners daughter whose terminated me showing the sales receipt with the price and date of when they were purchased . I just wanted her to know I didn’t mean any harm and I really never thought it was a no no . I was never even asked the particulars she just said they were aware that I was selling the boots for less than they sold Them for. I had one verbal prior to this recently after I went back to work after an illness because I had missed time and never tried to cover my shifts with another person . I only called in and told them I was ill . I was told they would give me a list of co-Workers names and numbers but they never carried through. If they had said I missed to much time I would understand but when I was being walked out I asked the other shift leader who was in the office when I was let go if it was because of missed time or if they had any problems with my work and he just shook his head no. I feel terrible about the situation and have never been fired before but I really was not trying to do anything wrong. I would understand if I was called in and they asked me to remove the add which I did already andcwarned me it was not a good policy . I just really wanted them to acknowledge they understood the boots were purchased prior to my employment there. and not during . I am good sales person I try hard and .I easily get along with others. Just would like your thoughts on how she handled the situation. I am very upset . Thank you for your time. Answer: Thank you for your question.
