Add Comment Question: I was terminated for drug use at work. I had been employeed for 25 yrs with the company but it was determined that I broke strict company policy by smoking drugs at work. I have been battling depression, anxiety and addiction. I have never used at work before and the workplace stress, along with depression ultimately lead to my termination. I am finally being treated for my depression with medication, I am seeing a counselor as well, and also waiting to be seen and assessed at an addiction center. I pleaded with my employer not to be fired and I was willing to do whatever it would take to get better and prove my worth. I mean, it was 25 years without ever having an incident or being reprimanded for anything. Do I have any grounds to stand on? I am totally devastated right now Answer: Thank you for your email. After 25 years of service with a clean employment record, it may very well be the case that the company should have issued a lesser form of discipline (in the form of a write-up or suspension), rather than terminating your employment. It is extremely important that you speak with one of our employment lawyers as soon as possible. Please give us a call at the number below to discuss your situation in more detail. We would be happy to help in any way we can. Your Comment * Your Email * Your Name * Your City Note, your name, city and email is not displayed on the website.
