Add Comment Question: I was recently dismissed (Tuesday) due to performance. Told nice lady and hard worker but can’t do the job. Received email outlying performance issues on Friday with a plan for me to perform then fired. Employer accidentally forward email to me indicating the decision to fire had been made on Thursday ahead Friday performance meeting and Monday termination. During Friday’s meeting I was not told it was a performance management plan. Only found out when email was sent to me on Friday night with a plan to improve. I didn’t get an opportunity to improve and stressed and worked through the whole weekend. Had good performance in November Answer: Thanks for writing to us. Your employer does have the right to terminate your employment on a without cause basis for any reason, including the alleged poor performance. However, it must provide you with payment in lieu of notice of your termination. To find out how much you could be owed, you can use our Severance Calculator (linked at the top of the page) and give us a call at the number below to discuss your entitlements in further detail with a lawyer.
