I had been employeed for 25 yrs with the company but it was determined that I broke strict company policy by smoking drugs at work. I have been battling depression, anxiety and addiction. I have never used at work before and the workplace stress, along with depression ultimately lead to my termination. I am finally being treated for my depression with medication, I am seeing a counselor as well, and also waiting to be seen and assessed at an addiction center. I pleaded with my employer not to be fired and I was willing to do whatever it would take to get better and prove my worth. I mean, it was 25 years without ever having an incident or being reprimanded for anything. Do I have any grounds to stand on? I am totally devastated right nowI was asked to hand in my resignation instead of them firing me because they were told I was stealing but hadn't shown me any proofI was terminated with no reason or warning, my District manager handed me a peice of paper with 3 violated polocies on it and didnt explain it at all and basically told me to take my questions to Human Resources. What should i do here? I have a copy of the employee handbook and it almost seems certain they didnt fire me for these reasons as 2 weeks prior i asked about a potential FMLA absence... I was with said company for 2 years and i dont know what to do.I was dismissed in February before my probation period ended. I continued to receive 2 payroll payments after my last day at the office. The employer has emailed me to ask for the payments back. What are my rights? Previous Next Page 109 of 712
