Ask your question and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
My employer never told me why they terminated me in writing. They alluded to me that I did not tell the truth about an incident, however I did not lie. Do I have a case for wrongfull dismissal?
Employers are not obligated to provide a reason for a without cause termination. In a without cause termination, you should have been provided with notice or pay in lieu of notice, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, your contract and/or the common law depending on the provisions of your employment contract.
We require more information to be able to assess your case, in particular, whether you were terminated on a without cause basis or whether just cause was alleged, whether you were subject to or involved in an investigation, and whether you received notice or pay in lieu at the time of termination.
Please call our office to set up a call with one of our lawyers who will be able to evaluate your particular circumstances.
