I was hired for a position on Saturday, January 18. They emailed me on Sunday, January 19 and told me to come in tor training on Monday, January 20. I woke up with a fever and went to the hospital and advised that I had pneumonia.
I emailed the owner and manager on Monday 8 hours prior to the shift explaining what was happening. This was for my training shift. I did not hear back. I emailed them on Tuesday and Wednesday to see if I could start over the weekend. They did not reply. Today (January 23) I called again about when my training shifts would start and the owner advised me that they had to hire someone else because they were in a bad spot on Monday. It doesn’t make sense because I was just scheduled for what was supposed to be a training shift on January 19 for January 20. I should have been considered extra staff and train and he made it sound like he had to hire someone else because I didn’t show up. I was very disappointed and did not understand how the owner could just take the job away so easily. I had a feeling this place was very disorganized as he cancelled and re-scheduled interview times on 4 occasions and when I came for my interview for 1 pm he looked surprise and said “I thought I told you 5 pm.” Very unfair how everything transpired. I let down another job opportunity because I was excited to be offered this job which is close to home.
