My husband has worked for the same company for almost 15 years and has a spotless record. This week he had a verbal argument and raised his voice and did swear at his manager, he calm down and apologize at the time of the incident. Can he be fired for this? Would they have to give him severance

Thank you for your question. My name is Jon Pinkus and I am an employment lawyer with Samfiru Tumarkin LLP.

A single verbal argument is generally not going to amount to just cause for dismissal. As such, if your husband has been fired, he is very likely going to be owed severance. After 15 years, that is going to be a very significant entitlement.

As such, if he has been fired, or if he is fired for this incident in the future, please contact us at the number below for a consultation. Kindly note that there is a two year limitation period from the date of notice of termination. As such, it is important to act as soon as possible.
