I have been suspended for 5 days without pay for a forklift accident that envloved property damage of the load I was carrying. I've never been suspended before and only received a writing warning for a previous accident. Are they allowed to just give me the highest form of punishment and skip all the other warnings?

The employer is not allowed to suspend you without pay unless there is a specific term in your contract to the contrary. You may treat your employment as terminated and trigger your severance pay so please contact us to review how much you are owed and what your options are.
