I am a welder-fitter. I was at a place in london ontario for 10 months. I was terminated without cause. side note on ROE says "despite best efforts, determined not best fit for organization. they were paying me 24/hr. Gave me 1 week in lieu pay. I am almost 38 yrs old. I cant understand why the severance calculator here says i may be entitled to an extra 5 grand. ? I also wonder if there is any possibility for a wrongful dismissal claim. ?
thank you

The 1 week in lieu of notice is the minimum they owe based on the legislation. However, unless you have a contract which limits your entitlements to the minimum then your actual entitlements are based on your age, position, and length of service and much greater than 1 week.
