I have been working for the same family on and off for a couple of years now.. today they told me that they don’t need me no more because the kids are off school.. they didn’t give me any notice.... they currently owe me 2 weeks vacation pay and should they not be required to give 2 more weeks pay for no time?

Given the Covid-19 health crisis, an employer can likely do what it needs to do (reducing hours, lay offs, pay cuts, etc), because the current situation results in a frustration of contract, being outside of the employers control. If the employer is acting in good faith as a result of the health situation (i.e there really is no work for you at this time), then nothing can be done now.

If the employer does not call back you back to work after the current health crisis subsides, then your lay-off may be a deemed termination potentially entitling you to severance at that time. If you are not called back to work you can give us a call at that time so we can further assess whether you have any termination entitlements.
