I was laid off Sept 11/2019 with no notice from a gym where i worked as a trainer. Im working with the labour board now to see if I am entitles to termination pay after never being brought back on. When I was laid off I was told it was due to financial reasons and that he would be taking on all my clients so that he didnt have to pay anyone. I came to find out that he actually gave atleast 3 of my clients to other trainers giving that money away anyways. I was also told previous to this that I would be getting a promotion in September 2019. I was hit by a car Nov2018 and in August 2019 I told them that I am not interested on taking on many more clients than I already had at the time due to being in pain if I take on any more. I was willing to find more clients if/when my other clients were done with their sessions. So I believe I was fired for being hurt essentially as I was up for a promotion until I told them this, then they decided to lay me off, never bringing me back. However, still hiring other trainers on. Do I have any rights here? Is he in the wrong?
